Although I seem to have had higher expectations than I thought, the movie is super entertaining.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

I remember anticipating the next night when this mini ran back in the day, rare for me. I thought it was realistic like an Aussie "Centinial". I'd love to see it digitally remastered and released on DVD, and I don't buy the arguments about the length being prohibitive. Please, a lot of crap less worthy and lengthier is already for sale. Like many others, I've looked for it to get re-ran to no avail. Was it as good as I remember? The only complaint I've seen was it was too long. Hello, it was a mini. If a mini is good, who cares if it is long and spread over multiple nights, anticipation is part of the experience. Has anyone heard about this becoming a reality?

First I'll apologize for my poor English. I hope you can understand my writing anyway. :-)I would love to buy this series "Against the wind". I totally fell in love wide the story about how Irish and English convicts were shipped of to Australia to work in slave like condition for rich English immigrants, and not to forget the tittle song Six Ribbons song by Jon English who plays the lead role Jonathan Garrett. I really hope that the series will be available on DVD soon. I'll be the first in line to buy it for sure. So if any of you know where to get hold of this, please tell.

I can only echo all the previous comments about "Against the Wind".I am in the process of putting together a fan-based web page AND chat forum for Against the Wind which will also include some other fantastic Australian Colonial dramas; "Rush", "Cash and Company" and "Tandarra".I have been researching all 4 shows for some time now and I hope to have something up and running in the next month or so (time permitting). If anyone has any thoughts on what I should include on the site, please drop me a line.I am also starting a chat forum for anyone interested in discussing the four shows, their characters, locations etc.

I would love to see this show back on TV or released on Video, They could do Anne of Green Gables, why not this. Jon English is a great actor (and his eye make up is real, not make up) He is also a great singer. Compelling story of our early times, fairly true to life and possibly based on a number of stories of convict days.
