A Thief in the Night Trailers

Patty, a young woman caught up in living for the present with little concern for the future, awakens one day to find her husband missing and the radio reporting that millions of people around the globe have mysteriously vanished. As dramatic, earth-shaking events begin to unfold around her, Patty realizes she is living in the end times spoken of in biblical prophecy.

The movie's neither hopeful in contrived ways, nor hopeless in different contrived ways. Somehow it manages to be wonderful

Excellent and certainly provocative... If nothing else, the film is a real conversation starter.

I came across this film by accident whist watching another series The Leftovers which had a song in it that is also in this film. Many have said they saw this film in Church and such, but I did not (maybe it was because I grew up in Brooklyn). As a Protestant, I was never taught about the rapture nor was it ever mentioned at my Church (in fact, I had never heard of the rapture until I was an older adult; guess it wasn't a thing for my branch of Lutheranism and it still isn't). Acting is blah, but it is a good period piece and bought back to mind the clothes, the way I used to talk, the way things were so much simpler back then. It definitely made me think of my long-lost friends and I found myself wishing to go back to those times. Give it shot - especially if you lived during the early '70s; and if you didn't, well - it's not a bad representation of many of us lived.

Why is it that so many people find this film scary and inappropriate for children to watch, claiming that it has a negative impact on their young developing minds, Yet these same people will allow the same children to watch gory horror movies such as Nightmare on Elm Street, Halloween and Friday the 13th which by far are more impressionable on the young developing minds than "A Thief in the Night". They also allow them to play video games that teach them its okay to drive around and run over people for points and to kill and this doesn't have a negative impact on that same mind? Talk about your double standard...your very own comments tell us the true state of your hearts. This movie script as well as its sister movies are well thought out Biblically and follow closely along the event spoken of in the Bible. They tell a truth that is closer today than it ever was in the 70's. As for the "cheesy acting" as your call it, I think you will find the same quality in any and all low budget films of that day...and, one must also remember that those in these films were probably not trained actors but people who knew the Lord and were willing to be used for the good of His Kingdom.Perhaps instead of worrying about the quality of these movies you should be worried about the wellbeing of your Eternal soul (the objective of these movies) because like it or not according to 2 Peter 3:10 the Lord will return as "A thief in the night"

I was forced to watch this whole series of films as a young child and I was told they were REAL! Talk about child abuse. I would have been less frightened of Dracula or Frankenstein. This series is only good for people who believe in this ridiculousness and who want to indoctrinate their children into believing the same. Besides the obvious issues associated with brainwashing and indoctrination, there's also the bad acting, bad writing, and BAD "special effects". They are just all around terrible, terrible movies. Yes, believable (and horrifying) to a kid, but I can't imagine a grown-up buying into this shlock. Although, I must say, that I would be interested in seeing them today, as an adult. They might have a certain midnight/cult movie feel to them.

I've read most of the comments on this movie. I have seen this movie(and the whole prophecy series) many times with family members of all ages, we all enjoyed and it just made us meditate on what we already knew from reading and studying the bible about the rapture and end times. No one got scared or traumatized like I have read on some posts. The movie is just based on biblical facts. I have seen a lot of end time movies "Tribulation", "Armagedon" and so on and by far this one is one of the best in presenting bible truths. It may not have a lot of great special effects like todays movies but I believe it is a good witnessing tool. This movie and its prophecy series can be seen free at this website higherpraise.com, and judge for yourself. Blessings to all.
