It’s not bad or unwatchable but despite the amplitude of the spectacle, the end result is underwhelming.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

I had the fortune of seeing a private screening of "A Proper Violence" in Philadelphia; a friend brought me along who had told me that HIS friend had told him that this was a movie not to miss. I was a bit skeptical; it is, after all, a low-budget indie film, and they usually go the wayward route: too self-obsessed to be taken seriously. However, I was in for a wonderful surprise. Everything about this movie is perfect pitch. The suspenseful tension and intricate plot were subtle, yet frightening. I was impressed by the intricate web of the movie, and of the characters caught within it. Pitch perfect performances by everyone, especially Randy Spence. You will leave the theatre with the notion that you have been shocked by an electric jolt. Don't expect the run-of-the-mill from this movie. It is essential to point out the brilliance of the director, Chris Faulisi, who I also understand is the cinematographer. I found out that he is only twenty-two years old and was completely blown away by the mastery of the craft of film-making imbued to someone so young. That guy has a long, long career ahead of him. Don't be surprised if you see his name amongst Spielberg, Cameron, et al twenty years from now. SERIOUSLY. The guy is THAT GOOD. Conclusion: SEEK OUT THIS FILM. There are private screenings being set up for the near future, I've heard, but hope and pray this film is distributed soon. It's more than worth your while!

When viewing movies I always set out to answer one question - Did the movie accomplish what it intended to accomplish? Movies that do so are usually more enjoyable, entertaining and thought-provoking. A Proper Violence certainly accomplishes what it initially sets out to. It is a movie that will question your sense of morality. It will pull you into rooting for the character whose previous actions and crimes make him seem anything other than someone to root for. I was enthralled by the end of the movie, jumping out of my seat at the tumultuous and fast-paced final five minutes.A Proper Violence is well-written and beautifully shot. When one considers how this movie was made and for what it was made, I am all the more impressed. The acting is well-done, even down to the bit characters (special acknowledgment to Tyler Nichols and Tim Selby for their roles, respectively). I was particularly impressed with Randy Spence (Morgan) in his scenes around the camp fire. After viewing it the first time, I began wondering what the movie would have been like had it started in the woods and then used flashbacks to tell the beginning of the story. This may have helped the pace of the movie, which for the first 15 minutes is rather slow. Ultimately, the movie quickly gathers steam and pushes ahead from the woods until the the dramatic finish.I am left astounded by the accomplishment of this movie. Shot on such a low budget, it is nonetheless teeming with excitement, thought-provoking writing and lively acting.

A Proper Violence kept me on the edge of my seat! It's filled with twists and developments you would never expect. I highly recommend it to anyone who likes character development and psychological thrillers. A true sign of a thriller is a racing heart, and my heart was beating so fast I felt like I was living in the movie! There were great surprises and from someone who watches a ton of serial killer shows and Law and Order, I thought I was guessing what was coming and I was wrong every time! The ending is so unexpected, it wasn't how I wanted it to end, but it was satisfying. The acting was as intense as the story and I can't wait to see what's next in store for the writers and actors!
