... View MoreIt's the kind of movie you'll want to see a second time with someone who hasn't seen it yet, to remember what it was like to watch it for the first time.
... View MoreThis is a fairly predictable prince and commoner movie. The protagonists are a handsome couple that are basically developing quite a romance..The bad point is this. This movie comes very close to crossing a line and comes close enough to deserve being called on it. "Todd's not a bad guy, he's just hurt." Alice says this after Todd's overly aggressive behavior which results in a fight. Todd is guilty because he thinks he owns Alice. And he degrades her. He tells her she doesn't deserve anything better. I'm not sure that Todd would back off if made a firm statement of no. (Actually, he kind of doesn't.) She actually does say no several times, but then appears to waffle. Any man with any decency at all, any, would back off and stay away. But in addition to that Alice doesn't put her foot down. Every time Todd asks her to make a final choice, Alice doesn't. And Romance movies need to stop condoning this behavior. I've seen various degrees of this behavior in several romance TV movies. This movie is actually on the mild side. In some of them, the man is even more wrong, often grabbing the woman and kissing her without permission even as she struggles to break the kiss. This is unacceptable behavior and movies such as this need to make that clear. I have yet to see a romance movie that does.***SPOILERS*** I also didn't like the inevitable confrontation over the "lie". She says "what kind of fool do I look like", but the truth is that by jumping to conclusions and not trying to work it out, she is a fool and looks like a fool. Further, Duncan is just not that kind of person. Everything she accuses him of is just not true and he's not that stupid to think it is. But that's how these movies have to progress.I didn't rate this movie because I don't want my prejudice to affect the ratings.
... View MoreA Prince For Christmas is a made for TV film starring Viva Bianca and Kirk Barker and tells the tale of a young handsome prince of Beaumount (Barker)who is forced to marry someone he doesn't love. Sick of not choosing who he wants to marry he travels to America where his car ends up dead out of a small town in the states. He bumps into a young woman named Emma(Bianca)and he calls himself David instead of Prince Duncan. So as "David" is waiting for a train ride he of course ends up spending some time with Emma and eventually the two fall in love. Of course their romance gets ruined by Emma's ex boyfriend Todd who is up to no good. So will Emma discover that "David" isn't who he says he is?Overall this was a decent Christmas movie. Is it the best film ever no but its still not that bad. As I was watching this film it reminds me so much of The Prince and Me. Both films have a prince from another country who are sick and tired of being treated royalty. They travel to America where they fall for American girls who want more in life, the prince and the commoner fall in love, they find out about the guy's identity. The list goes on.See it if you loved The Prince & Me and Coming To America.
... View MoreIt has one great line: "Two men in my life, and the honest one turns out to be the used car salesman."I spent the first half of the film trying to figure out why, if Duncan flew from Europe and was going to NYC, he happened to be driving through the middle of nowhere on the way to NYC. That was the big mystery in this otherwise it is a fairly predictable and pedestrian retelling of an oft-told tale.
... View MoreIt is very hard not to like this movie. Once in a while along comes such a sweet story of love. Here comes the story of a European prince (country unspecified) who meets an American girl living in a small upstate New York town. The prince has escaped an arranged marriage in his native land, comes to America, and meets this sweet charming lady. They fall in love. 'Nuff said. This is a very American movie, filmed in America with very American themes. The acting is excellent, the sentiment very touching. Most of this is filmed within a 15 mile radius in real places in Erie County, New York State. Mary Kate O'Connell, a Buffalo native, has an important role. Much of this is filmed in the town where I live, making it VERY attractive for me. There is nothing not to like in this film, no violence, no cursing, no wasted words. They meet, she dumps local guy, they fall in love, end of story! Happily ever after!
