Each character in this movie — down to the smallest one — is an individual rather than a type, prone to spontaneous changes of mood and sometimes amusing outbursts of pettiness or ill humor.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen in a very long time. You have to go and see this on the big screen.

As usual with Republic Pictures movies from these years, this film is a mix up of western, romance, adventure, with a pinch of comedy. Costumes more than Indians or gunslingers. No stampede or pursuit either. But there is some bad guys. And a gal, lots of gals. You'll find here the usual scheme of the lead female character - Vera Ralston - torn between two men: Scott Brady and David Brian. Good story, classic one. But we can prefer William Wellman's WESTWARD THE WOMEN, concerning westerns starring a bunch of women in search of husbands. But can we compare the talented, the great Wellman and the only not so bad B director Springsteen? Can we?
