It's funny, it's tense, it features two great performances from two actors and the director expertly creates a web of odd tension where you actually don't know what is happening for the majority of the run time.

The tone of this movie is interesting -- the stakes are both dramatic and high, but it's balanced with a lot of fun, tongue and cheek dialogue.

Great example of an old-fashioned, pure-at-heart escapist event movie that doesn't pretend to be anything that it's not and has boat loads of fun being its own ludicrous self.

After playing with our expectations, this turns out to be a very different sort of film.

"30 Days in Atlanta" is a frustrating film to watch. While it's not nearly as funny as it's billed to be, it is very pleasant and you like the two leads...and you want them to do well in America. However, the film ends with one off the worst endings I've seen in some time. It's as if they ran out of money and film and just tied everything together in one quick take--telling the audience that magic occurred and everything worked out fine. Well, for me it didn't...the ending really made it a film I would be very hesitant to recommend. The film begins with a country cousin, Akpos, arriving in the big city of Lagos to spend time with his cousin. They decide to go to a party and there they win an all expense trip to Atlanta (why Atlanta?!). The two set off to see America and have a good time-- the nice cousin, Richard, and his country bumpkin, Akpos. Soon the pair have some adventures and meet some beautiful ladies--and then tragedy strikes for both men and it appears they'll be heading back to Nigeria with broken hearts. Then, as I mentioned above, complicated problems just vanished and a tacked on happy ending left me scratching my head and wondering how they could ever end a film so abruptly and superficially. It's really a shame, as the film was otherwise rather likable. There was one other odd problem in the film. I assume it was made for Nigerians because whenever Akpos talks, he speaks an unintelligible form of pidgen--such that no American could possibly understand him. Yet, inexplicably, every American but one instantly recognizes what he's saying!! This does not ruin the film but unless Akpos talks and subtitles mysteriously appear to explain what he said, I cannot see how this happened again and again!Overall, the film has a few rough patches but perhaps there will be enough good to make it worth your time.

Don't see it, that's all, OK, Akpos wins a 30day trip to Atlanta and that's about everything, I bet they just said let's shoot a video about two guys goofing in Atlanta. It's just pointless, I wonder why Majid Michel was clapping so hard trying so hard to laugh just like the other characters, I recommend you don't see this movie if you don't want to punch your screen. Even schizos wouldn't budge watching this, if this thrilled you I'm sorry you really need to get treated, plus they tried to force a romantic story into it, it failed in everything, comedy, acting and trying to be funny. The only good thing about this movie were the American actors they gave it little life and it just went back to dead. Only the immigration lawyer is worth watching, the IT fools girlfriend was just made to look stupid, plus RMD's stupid story about his wife and every other thing just tries so hard to make sense. I'd be angry if I paid to see this.I regret wasting 1hr40mins this, I mean I thought teletubies was annoying.

I was very skeptical at first about watching this movie at the cinemas, but i was actually impressed by the quality. Laughs here and there and good acting made this movie one of Nollywood's most impressive comedy to date. I also liked the fact that a few foreign actors (most notably 'Lynn Whitfield' & 'vivica fox') was in there and able to blend perfectly well. The movie is basically about a local boy AY (lead actor) and his cousin winning a trip to the US for 30 days while maintaining his 'Africaness'. They get caught up with the bright and high life of the states amidst other things. A decent movie for anyone who is seeking a good laugh.

The movie opens on a solid grounded premise of a local Nigeria Warri boy who luckily wins an all expense paid couples trip to Atlanta with his cousin only to discover a whole new world of how thing are done outside Nigeria and his familiar territory. (Sounds familiar? How about 2003 Osoufia in London). The movie does nothing to improve on the already established grounds of the comedy genre in the Nollywood industry, but still it was able to standout on its own offering few laughs and good comedic moments with a great support from other characters like Richard (Ramsey Nouah) & Ese (Mercy Johnson), who didn't get more screen time. The entire narrative was mostly non-consistent as the adventures of the lead character Akpos was mostly nearly overshadowed by the relations of the supporting character (Richard), this is under the supervision of Director Robert peters who manage to showcase the quirky comedic valve of the movie and sacrificed the soul and heart of the story and its Lead (Akpos) making it weak and conventional added with the poor dialogues of some scenes contained in the second and third act of the movie. 30 days in Atlanta would surely please most A.Y (Ayo Makun) fans giving it is his first lead based movie but wouldn't go as far as winning new fans over. And Giving the fact that the subtitle is "The adventures of Akpos" 30 Days in Atlata chokes on its own title and did nothing to improve the comedy genre with its few jokes, weak writing, undercooked characters and clichéd ending.
